AC Milan have unveiled their latest fourth kit which they will use in the 2022/23 season – an offering as a result of the club and Puma’s tie-in with fashion house, KOCHÉ.
Last year, the Serie A giants combined the worlds of football and fashion with a special edition strip in collaboration with NEMEN. Now, though, Milan have released a stunning jersey as part of kit maker Puma’s partnership with KOCHÉ.
The Parisian fashion brand has decided to try a modern take on the traditional Rossoneri stripes. In a statement on the club website, AC Milan have described their fourth kit as reimagining the home strip in “digital 8-bit glory”. And what glory it is.
Made from 100% recycled material, the kit features pixelated versions of the iconic red and black stripes, with red vertical pixels fading into the black shoulders. Meanwhile, diagonal black patterns and 8-bit style elements integrate with the traditional “Rosso”.
In contrast to the typical home shirt, Puma and KOCHÉ have opted for gold colouring for the logos. This includes the club crest, Puma badge, and the Fly Emirates sponsor in the centre of the chest. Further changes are also seen in the neck of the shirt.
A collar is now present, providing a more street-fashion style than a typical football jersey.
In addition, another fascinating element of this stunning strip is the shorts. Rather than being in plain black, the shorts continue the pixelated feel. They boast gold-coloured badges, too, adding a touch of class.
However, the socks calm down the bold design, coming in black with a simple red hoop.
AC Milan and KOCHÉ react to fourth kit collaboration
The club’s Chief Revenue Officer, Casper Stylsvig, hailed Milan’s innovation in partnering with the fashion house.
“Puma and KOCHÉ’s fourth kit is the perfect incarnation of AC Milan’s innovative drive to be a pioneer and trendsetter,” said Stylsvig, via the Milan website. “With its ability to incorporate our red and black colours with gold and its modern design, the kit combines heritage and innovation.
“It is a testament to AC Milan’s ability to merge football and fashion in a credible and authentic way.”
Similarly, positive comments came from KOCHÉ’s founder, Christelle Kocher. She described it as an “honour” to work for “one of the most iconic football clubs of all time”.
Kocher added: “I am very proud to bring an elegant KOCHÉ touch to AC Milan players on the pitch. It was a real pleasure to deep dive into AC Milan’s DNA and give my modern take on the red and black stripes.”
AC Milan will utilise this new fourth kit in a match during the 2022/23 season. But when will the strip take to the pitch?
Rossoneri to use digital-style kit in on-pitch action
Fans will not have to wait long to see this football-fashion collaboration in action. AC Milan Men’s side will sport the new gear – including a pre-match jacket as part of the collection – this weekend.
Rafael Leao and co. will wear the strip when they host Atalanta at the San Siro on Sunday 26 February.
The Women’s team also get the chance to showcase the new shirt in-game. They will wear the special edition kit against AS Roma during the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final (5 March).
This fantastic shirt is available for fans to buy now.
