Adidas and Real Madrid have released Los Blancos’ sensational 2023/24 home kit – which boasts the return of a popular colour.
Having produced Real shirts since 1998, the German marque has cemented a strong partnership with the Spanish club while crafting some glorious strips.
In recent times, Real’s home kit has experienced minor changes, particularly in the trim department. For instance, in 2020/21, Adidas coloured their iconic three stripes in pink on the home jersey. They followed this up with blue in 2021/22, then purple last season.
However, for 2023/24, the Real Madrid home kit sees Adidas bring back gold accents.
Real Madrid 2023/24 home kit: the details
Madrid have done away with the polo-style collar on their new shirt. Instead, we see an overlapping-type look which comes in navy, supported with a gold stripe. This trend is also present on the sleeve cuffs, where the two alternate colours make their presence felt again.
Flowing down the shoulders of the 2023/24 Real Madrid home kit are Adidas’ traditional stripes. Here is where the regal colour of gold truly stands out and shows a big change in style from last season.
Elsewhere, navy lines along the side and base of the shirt frame the look nicely. This same colour is used for the Adidas logo, plus the club’s Fly Emirates shirt sponsor.
There is one new addition to the kit for 2023/24, too. For the first time ever, “Hala Madrid!” – Real’s iconic chant – features in dark text on the back of the collar.
Gold trim on a Madrid home shirt is an uncommon, but not unseen design choice. Its most recent use came in 2019/20 when even its sponsors were in the glamorous shade.
For other fans, the gold Adidas stripes may evoke memories of Los Blancos’ record-breaking 2011/12 campaign. That season, Jose Mourinho’s Galacticos tore up the La Liga record books on their way to the title.
If we head even further back in time, the navy/gold combo is also reminiscent of Madrid kits at the turn of the millennium.
So, Adidas and Real have dropped a top-notch shirt. When will it be in action, though?
Kit to make debut on pre-season tour
Per Onefootball, the new Real Madrid 2023/24 home kit will take to the pitch for the first time during their pre-season tour of America.
Whilst in the USA, Carlo Ancelotti’s side will play four matches against fellow European giants. They begin their trip with a game against AC Milan on 23 July – presumably the debut of their new strip, too.
Shortly after, Los Blancos face Man United in Houston on 26 July. This may serve as a warm-up to the big match of their tour; an El Clasico with Barcelona on 29 July. Madrid then finish up their trip around the States with a clash against Juventus on 2 August.
Real Madrid look to have a modern classic on their hands with their 2023/24 kit. Will we see some big names donning the shirt after making a transfer to Los Blancos? Maybe, for example, one Kylian Mbappe? Madridistas would certainly like to see him in it, that’s for sure.
