It’s official – Sergio Aguero’s time at Manchester City is coming to an end.
The Argentine has been one of the club’s greatest servants across the last decade and the term ‘club legend’ seems to fall a little short of summarising what he’s done for the blue half of Manchester.
Alas, the sands of time have caught up and fans must now deal with the unthinkable.
Aguero leaves behind a legacy of one of the greatest ever strikers to ever grace the league. That also brings with it a showreel of incredible moments and arguably the most important goal in Premier League history.
We’ve picked out a few of the highlights.
Liverpool – February 2013
When Pepe Reina came off his line too late it was game over as Sergio Aguero poked it past him and lifted the ball beautifully into the back of the net.
Watford – September 2017
Aguero bagged his hat-trick in sublime style, dancing through Watford’s defence before slotting in a deft finish.
Sunderland – December 2014
The Black Cats had the nerve to go 1-0 up against the almighty Manchester City back in December 2014. In response, Aguero sliced into the box with a nice nutmeg and fired home with ease.
Swansea – August 2011
Premier League debut? No problem for Sergio as his second goal of the game came in the form of an injury time rocket that really let the league know he’d arrived.
Manchester United – September 2013
Against City’s bitter rivals, Aguero was in the right place at the right time with the sort of flicked volley we’ve all tried to replicate down the park with our mates.
Bayern Munich – November 2014
Injury time, City’s Champions League hopes on the line, Sergio Aguero’s moment to shine.
He picked the pocket of Jerome Boateng, raced through on goal and sent the Etihad into a frenzy.
Chelsea – February 2019
In one of the biggest games of the season, Aguero picked up the ball and absolutely leathered it into the top corner to prove he’s still one of the best in the business.
Leicester – February 2018
This one really was unstoppable.
Aguero collected the ball at his feet, took a touch and hit it so perfectly, watching it rebound in off the bar, something which always seems to make goals like this even prettier.
Norwich – April 2012
Aguero, Tevez, Aguero, goal. Norwich just didn’t stand a chance here with Aguero showcasing the kind of skill and confidence that confirm his status as one of the greatest ever.
QPR – May 2012
We still can’t believe this actually happened – and we swear, you’ll never see anything like this ever again. So watch it. Drink it in.
