Alejandro Garnacho is closing in on extending his stay at Manchester United, with multiple outlets reporting that he’s agreed a new deal.

When Erik ten Hag arrived at the club, the 18-year-old prospect had a somewhat mixed reputation. While his skill level was undeniable, many fans questioned whether he had the right attitude to wear the shirt. However, throughout the 2022/23 campaign, he’s put any doubts over his value to the squad to bed.

ESPN claim that negotiations have taken several months. However, it now looks like everything is settled. Aside from an image rights issue that needs ironing out, the player’s ready to put pen to paper.

The teenager will reap the rewards of a massive increase in pay, which will take him from an academy wage to a first-team footballer’s salary. The contract also involves the figure growing as he gets more involved.

The youngster has thrived under the spotlight this season, and doesn’t look like slowing down any time soon, despite the enormous pressure on his shoulders.

Both parties want to complete the deal as early as possible to avoid any distractions getting in the way of 100% focus on the fixtures ahead.

With United still competing in four competitions, securing their star man is of pivotal importance.
