Anthony Dizy calls out Dean Garnett for Hexagone MMA title shot

After a spectacular performance at Hexagone MMA 9, Anthony Dizy has challenged Dean Garnett to a blockbuster contest.

On June 17, at Reims Arena, France, a lifetime of hard work came to fruition as the MMA icon made his valiant return home, dismantling Roger Garcia in front of his adoring public.

Having travelled the world, fighting in promotions such as Bellator, Cage Warriors and PFL, Dizy has earned the respect of purists around the globe. However, with the sport being illegal in his home country until 2020, his passionate followers had no choice but to watch him via their television screens.

Sadly, it seemed the 34-year-old wouldn’t ever get to hear the roar of his raucous fans. But the second the law changed, Hexagone MMA knew they needed to give the legend his chance.

In a moment that will have filled him with overwhelming joy, ‘La Masse’ walked to the cage to deafening screams from the crowd.

Showcasing his world-level wrestling and unrelenting will to succeed, Dizy dragged his opponent into a war he simply couldn’t win. And rather than take the opportunity to retire on a high, he believes he can go one step further, calling for a title shot against one of the UK’s best fighters.

Riding a wave of momentum, the French star instantly turned his attention to gold, making no secret that he’d like to go to war with Garnett.

The Liverpudlian, who trains UFC star Muhammad Mokaev, returned from a long absence from the cage in January, rendering Miguel Haro unconscious within the first minute of the bout.

But his terrifying KO performance has done little to deter Dizy — if anything, it’s encouraged him.

Speaking exclusively to SPORF, the Frenchman said: “If you want, it’s OK. No problem. Come on.

“If I accept the fight, it’s because I think I can win. And I win this fight.

“I have a three-fight contract with Hexagone MMA. I have two more on the contract, and one will be with your guy.

“If you want, it’s OK for me.”

But before Dizy has his chance to get his hands on Garnett, the Liverpudlian will first have to get past Lucas Corbage at Hexagone MMA 8.

The eagerly-anticipated card goes down on August 4 live and exclusively on BT Sport.
