The Australian Grand Prix 2022 will take place this weekend, and we have all the key timings relating to the event, including the UK start time.
F1 will stage a Grand Prix in Australia for the first time since 2019. The race was originally due to be held in 2020 as the season opener. However, it was cancelled on the eve of the first practice due to the growing Covid-19 outbreak.
The 2021 race was also cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions in the country. But F1 is now back to a track that traditionally hosts the year’s first race. However, it will host the third race this time, with F1 already having travelled to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in 2022.
Red Bull and Ferrari have set the pace in the season’s opening races. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took a commanding victory in Bahrain. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen then bounced back from an enforced retirement in round one to win in Saudi Arabia.
Leclerc currently leads the Drivers’ Championship standings after two races, 12 points ahead of team-mate Carlos Sainz. Verstappen is in third, on 25 points.
Mercedes, meanwhile, will be looking to close the gap to the frontrunners after an uncharacteristically poor start to the season. The team have been struggling with issues relating to drag and their power unit.

Lewis Hamilton managed to get a podium in Bahrain, but could not get out of Q1 in Saudi Arabia before finishing in 10th place. Team-mate George Russell finished fifth in Bahrain and a credible fourth in Saudi Arabia.
