Bodø/Glimt have just achieved something truly special.
After defeating Inter Milan 3-1 last week, the Norwegian side had the tough assignment of travelling to the San Siro to complete the fairytale job.
Incredibly, the underdogs pulled off the miracle, securing a 2-1 victory at one of the most famous stadiums in football history to advance to the next round of the Champions League with an emphatic aggregate victory of 5-2.
Bodø/Glimt have beaten champions from the top three leagues in the world
While Bodø/Glimt’s win over Inter Milan is nothing short of amazing, it isn’t the only incredible feat the Eliteserien team have reached.
Not only has the determined club defeated a Serie A champion, but also a Premier League Champion and a La Liga champion.
On January 20, Bodø/Glimt managed to topple Manchester City 3-1 in an upset that sent shockwaves around the footballing world.
While this result alone would’ve been enough to leave a positive impact on their fans for a very long time to come, in their very next game in Europe, the resilient squad headed to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, where they recovered from an early goal to rally back from behind and pull off a sensational 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid.
According to UEFA, England, Spain and Italy are home to the three best leagues on Earth, making those victories taste even sweeter for Bodø/Glimt.
Now, the in-form team will advance to the last 16, where they will play either Sporting Lisbon, giving them an opportunity to beat the Portuguese giants as well, or will have a chance to do the double against Manchester City.
