With lightning pace and a sublime footballing IQ, Bukayo Saka has cemented his status as one of Arsenal’s most important players. And according to one footballing icon, his presence will make all the difference when ‘The Gunners’ host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
In a clash, which has the whole of North London chomping at the bit, it’ll only take one moment of magic for any of the men on the pitch to give their fans a memory they’ll remember forever.
But if Ray Parlour’s prediction is correct, it’ll be Saka putting his name in lights.
Having made 466 appearances for Arsenal, the Emirates legend knows precisely what it takes to perform on derby day. Therefore, football enthusiasts might want to pay attention to his opinion.
Ray Parlour believes Bukayo Saka will win the derby for Arsenal
Speaking at a Sky Sports filming day ahead of the Solheim Cup, and the Ryder Cup, Parlour said: “He knows what Arsenal-Tottenham games are all about from coming through the youth team. He knows how important it is for the fans. But every game is important when you’re trying to go for the title. You have to approach every game the same; it’s a big game, but don’t get too worried about it. Just do exactly what you do game-in, game-out and don’t put too much pressure on yourself. But Saka is a really nice young man, always wanting to learn more and always trying to get better. Hopefully, it could be a lovely afternoon out for Saka!
“Martinelli is the only blow as he went off against Everton, which is a blow because he has been really sharp in pre-season and in the season. So, hopefully, his injury isn’t too bad. But Saka certainly has a lot of weight on his shoulders, but he can handle it – he’s shown that playing for England and Arsenal.
