Calls for Ryder Cup star Robert MacIntyre to be kicked out of The Masters after wild on-course meltdown

Robert MacIntyre endured a horrific first day at the 2026 Masters.

And there are now calls for the Scotsman to be kicked out of the competition after the world number eight had a bird-flipping meltdown on the 15th hole at Augusta.

MacIntyre sent his ball into the drink not once, but twice on the 15th at Augusta. The end result was a quadruple bogey. An outcome that proved too much to bear for last year’s US Open runner up.

Robert MacIntyre caught on camera

With the camera still on him, MacIntyre flipped off his ball as it sunk into the water at Augusta. But this wasn’t his first outburst of the day.

After teeing off at the 12th, MacIntyre could be heard exclaiming, “It’s now going left to right, Jesus f**k!”

While putting off the green on the next hole, MacIntyre shouted, “f**king w****r!” and was also seen crashing his club into the fairway on the 17th.

The scenes may be reminiscent of what you would expect from a scene in Happy Gilmore, but MacIntyre’s outbursts are what so many golfers go through on a regular basis. Even if their emotions don’t always manifest themselves in such public displays of rage.

Fans call for MacIntyre to be removed from 2026 Masters

Augusta officials are notoriously strict. As a result, there is a chance MacIntyre will receive a reprimand for his conduct. The world number eight shot a round of eight over par. He is currently sitting in joint 82nd place heading into the second round.

There were even calls for the Scotsman to be removed from the course altogether.

MacIntyre told The Scotsman earlier this week ahead of The Masters that his volatile temper is just who he is when he’s out on the golf course, following an outburst at the Valero Texas Open, last week.

“I am trying to do my best out on the golf course. I’m a sportsman and it is live sport. I am going to react the way I want to react. I’m not going to change how I react because there is someone standing there or elsewhere.

“I am trying to do the best that I can and I will take my time after to go and sign autographs with kids and what not, but, when I am playing golf I am red-lining.”

MacIntyre will need to curb his temper during today’s second round if he hopes to make the cut for the remainder of the weekend at Augusta, however.
