Canelo Alvarez destroys Chris Eubank Jr, according to boxing icon… ‘Three round fight’

Exclusive: Chris Eubank Jr would get brutally taken out by Canelo Alvarez, according to a former world champion.

With the popular fighter just about edging out Conor Benn in a brutal war of attrition, his former opponent believes that overcoming one of the pound-for-pound best in the sport would make for an insurmountable challenge.

George Groves says Canelo Alvarez annihilates Chris Eubank Jr

George Groves is one of just three men to have defeated Chris Eubank Jr as a professional, making him the perfect person to give his stance on a showdown between ‘Next Gen’ and Canelo Alvarez.

Sadly for his old rival, the ex-WBA super middleweight King just can’t see a way he gets the job done.

In an exclusive interview with Sporf, via Lottoland Boxing Betting, he said: “That’s a three-round fight at best. Eubank Jr. is way past his prime; sure, it would be good for him to go up to 168 lbs and not have to do the drying up, but the damage is already done. His body is nowhere near what it used to be.

“Would you put Conor Benn in with Canelo? Probably not. Conor Benn would say he’s up for it, but you’d say it’s an absolute mismatch. Eubank Jr. vs Benn should’ve been an 80/20 fight in Eubank Jr’s favour, but it wasn’t; it was a 50/50 fight.

“He decides to do middleweight, so he can’t moan about the weight. He made middleweight, there was a rehydration clause that there is in every world title fight, so that’s nothing new, and he still had a life and death with Conor Benn, which seven years ago wouldn’t have been the case.”
