UFC welterweight Colby Covington has offered up a pretty NSFW explanation as to why he turned down the Leon Edwards fight.
Birmingham-based star Edwards returned to the octagon this past weekend to face Belal Muhammad. After nearly two years outside of the cage, ‘Rocky’ was left feeling frustrated as the bout was declared a no contest due to an accidental eye poke.
However, the entire situation could’ve been very different.

In addition to being scheduled to fight Khamzat Chimaev, Edwards was also linked with a showdown against Covington.
‘Chaos’ last fought in a winning effort over rival Woodley last September. Since then, all he’s wanted is another crack at Kamaru Usman.
During an interview with Submission Radio, Covington got personal when discussing his reasons for not fighting Edwards.
“There wasn’t much talks [for the Edwards fight]. I was balls deep in Polyana Viana, so to get me off the couch on three weeks notice to fight some Leon guy, it was going to be a price tag,” Covington said.
“Everybody’s going to have to use their imagination on that one. I’m not claiming to be her boyfriend, but what’s up with titles these days? Why does there have to be a title? Why can’t two adults just have fun together?
“That’s exactly what we did,” Covington continued.
The aforementioned Viana holds a 12-4 pro record and competes in the UFC’s strawweight division.
“We spent a couple of days together, had a great time together. I got to work on my bedroom cardio, keeping world-class championship form, and that’s that. I’ve got nothing but respect for her and Polyana’s a great girl, beautiful girl.”
Colby has previously spoken about the ‘act’ he puts on when it comes to hyping up his fights, but this is certainly a bold take even for him.
