Cormier slams McGregor over Khabib and Poirier comments

Daniel Cormier has hit out at Conor McGregor the Irish fighter’s recent interactions with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier.

It’s been well documented that McGregor enjoys trash talk both before, during and after his fights inside the octagon. However, instead of being dubbed witty and entertaining, “The Notorious” has recently been under fire for comments he’s made about Khabib’s deceased father and Poirier’s wife.

McGregor poked fun at the COVID-19 death of Abdulmanap and also implied that Dustin’s partner had tried to slide into his DMs on Instagram.

In response to this Daniel Cormier, who is a close friend of both men, lashed out at Conor in a recent episode of DC & RC.

“I get shock value and I get trying to get people to talk but [that was] way too far.

“To the point that I immediately called Khabib last night and said, ‘Are you OK?’ I was asking him if he’s OK after having to see that, especially with no ability to do anything about it again.”

“Well, [Khabib] can’t do that no more cause he’s not a prizefighter anymore, so now he just has to kind of swallow that – [it was] way too far.”

“Honestly, when Conor does stuff like that, it’s hard to understand how there’s still this mass amount of people that support that type of behavior.

“After the fight with Dustin Poirier, a lot of people questioned whether or not Conor McGregor was reaching to try and get in the head of Dustin Poirier.

“Reach back to a time where he had trash talk that could affect people – it didn’t seem to work against Poirier.

“I feel like from him talking about Dustin’s wife to now Khabib’s father, he is just taking it way too far.”

Cormier and Khabib retired from professional mixed martial arts last year whereas Poirier is the number one contender to the UFC lightweight title.
