Diego Costa gives typical response on his partnership with Suarez

As Luis Suarez’ transfer to Atletico Madrid was confirmed, it brought with it one very notable new strike partnership.

Alongside Diego Costa, the Spanish side have what is surely one of the most controversial forward pairings we’ve seen, and Costa is well aware of that.

When asked about how the two will gel together, the Brazilian-born striker offered up the most Diego Costa answer imaginable.

“It’s really good, one of us bites and the other kicks.” he joked.

Or was it a joke? It’s hard to tell given the pair’s ‘questionable’ history.

“We are very lucky to have Luis, I don’t understand how Barca could have let him leave,” He added.

“He’s going to help us with lots of goals as well as his warrior spirit and his hunger to win trophies. I hope he can help us win another trophy for our fans, but we need to take each game as it comes.”

Costa, who has been linked with a move away from the club has said he wants to stay and fight for his place but would be open to leaving if the club decided.

“I don’t want to fight with them and become a drain on the club, I’ve spoken to the club and the coach and told them I’m ready to leave if they think I should go,” he said.

“But if I stay I’m going to fight to play and I hope I don’t get injured so I can get a good run of games. I have to make the most of my opportunities. Anything can happen this season, the important thing is to be ready and score goals.”

Suarez couldn’t have gotten off to a better start at life under Diego Simeone, coming off the bench to score two goals and grab an assist in his side’s 6-1 victory against Granada.
