Dustin Colquitt names Devin Hester and three others as the toughest NFL players he’s faced

Dustin Colquitt achieved a great deal in his career, from winning the Super Bowl to setting multiple Kansas City Chiefs records, including the highest career punting average, the most punts inside the 20-yard line and the most appearances in the history of the team, gracing the field an astonishing 238 times.

However, despite accomplishing so much, even he admits that there were some legends who gave him problems.

When asked during an exclusive interview with Sporf who the toughest players he ever faced were, he replied: “In my specific position, Joshua Cribbs, Darren Sproles, Travis Benjamin. We had punt returners, Devin Hester from the Chicago Bears, he’s a Hall of Fame guy. Those guys are faster than me, stronger than me, can hit harder than me, so my job for our punt team was to hit it as high as I can and try and keep it away because those guys, once they get loose, it’s a touchdown.”

Dustin Colquitt says winning the Super Bowl was a ‘dream come true’

On February 2, 2020, Colquitt scaled the football mountain, winning Super Bowl LIV, in front of 62,417 fans inside the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, USA. And unsurprisingly, his crowning moment still holds a special place in his heart.

The 43-year-old reminisced: “I think the reality of that, once Andy Reid got to town in 2013, you win nine straight games, and you keep building year after year, you start acquiring different players through the draft, who have the goal of competing for championships every year, you’re in a good place.

“Once we had that 2019 AFC Championship, where we got to hoist that Lamar Hunt trophy—that was an out-of-body experience. The next game is obviously the Super Bowl, so you put your head down, you get to work, you do everything you’ve been doing all year, we managed to punch our tickets, we came from down ten, and ended up winning in Miami, 31-20 against a very good San Francisco 49ers team. It was a dream come true.”
