England fans sing “Happy Birthday” to Saka after Three Lions win

England and Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka marked his 20th birthday with a goal and assist in the Three Lions’ 4-0 win over Andorra in World Cup qualifying.

The fixture – the first hosted by Wembley since the Community Shield in early August – saw Gareth Southgate‘s side ease to victory over an opponent ranked 152 places below them in the FIFA World Rankings.

It was England’s fifth win out of five in Group I, having already defeated Hungary, Poland, Albania and San Marino.

Saka was heavily involved in the victory and provided the assist for Jesse Lingard’s 78th minute strike to make it 3-0.

The Arsenal forward then added a fourth goal on 84 minutes, heading in from Lingard’s cross.

Saka on performance & birthday song

It was a successful afternoon for Saka, who marked his 20th birthday in perfect style with the man of the match award.

And England fans still inside the stadium at the end of the match clearly recognised the occasion.

They could be heard singing ‘Happy Birthday to you’ after a reporter mentioned it during a post-match interview.

Saka applauded the fans before replying: “Thank you! That was very nice, yeah. I think this is the perfect way to celebrate my birthday so I’m very happy.”

On the game itself, and the reception he received, he said (via Daily Express): “This is what I dream about, to play at Wembley in front of my friends and family, a crowd and score on my 20th birthday, so I’m really happy.

“I think it means a lot, it really made a difference for me [response after Euro 2020 penalty miss], only just now I can hear so fans cheering my name so it means everything to me and shows that everyone supports me through thick and thin so it’s nice.”
