Fans beg Thomas Tuchel to call up Trent Alexander-Arnold

Despite being an esteemed player, Trent Alexander-Arnold was not selected by Thomas Tuchel as part of England’s 35-man squad for friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.

Due to the star’s capabilities on the football pitch, during an episode of The Rest is Football Podcast, Gary Lineker claimed the call not to feature him could go beyond sport, saying: “You know I’m obviously a big admirer of Trent.

“I think there’s something personal because football-wise, there’s no argument. I can’t see how he can not be in that squad because he has to improve your chances, even if it’s from the bench.

“So, I suspect there’s something that Tuchel does not like about Trent Alexander-Arnold. I’m just guessing in terms of what it might be, whether it’s his attitude, whether it’s he’s not brilliant defensively. There has to be something in that because it makes absolutely no sense.”

He added: “You got players playing in his position, with all due respect, that are not in the same league as him, certainly with the ball at his feet.

Tonight, the defender is representing Real Madrid against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the quarter-final of the Champions League. During the match, fans have headed to social media to make sure Tuchel is taking note of what the gifted athlete is doing.

One said: “Thomas Tuchel, are your eyes open to what Trent Alexander-Arnold is doing tonight in the biggest match in football? Are you awake?”

Another added: “Trent’s crosses are filthy. I don’t understand why Tuchel won’t call him up. He should absolutely be back up to Reece James at the World Cup.”

A third posted: “Trent is class, isn’t he? What is Tuchel thinking?”
