FIFA 23: All the new celebrations included in the game

Celebrations are an integral part of any FIFA game – and for FIFA 23, EA have given players a number of new celebrations to choose from.

Celebrations can be placed into two categories for FIFA players – you either love performing them when you score, and you hate watching them when you concede. Some celebrations, such as the Paul Pogba-inspired dab, induced even more rage than conceding a goal ever could.

EA did at least go some way to solving the so-called ‘toxicity’ of player celebrations on FIFA 22. They added a new feature, where you can choose to watch your own team’s reaction after a goal, instead of the other team.

That also brought an end to having to watch running celebrations – where opposition players send their goalscorer around the pitch in an endless running motion, that can’t be skipped.

But celebrations remain an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to playing FIFA, and there are even more to use in FIFA 23. Let’s take a look:

‘The Gamer’ – Diogo Jota

New to FIFA 23 is a special signature celebration performed by Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.

The Portuguese star, who has his own esports team, performs a celebration called ‘The Gamer’. It involves him sitting down, legs crossed, whilst simulating the playing of a game using a controller. Pretty simple, but effective.

‘The Flip’ – Sam Kerr

Chelsea striker Sam Kerr has made history by becoming the first female athlete to feature on the global cover of a FIFA game. Furthermore, EA have included her signature celebration in FIFA 23.

The Australian forward firstly performs a handstand, before transitioning into an inch-perfect backflip. We imagine this will be a popular celebration on FIFA 23.

‘The Griddy’ – Christian Pulisic

Another one of the new celebrations on FIFA 23 is ‘The Griddy’ – a viral American dance made popular in football terms by Chelsea‘s Christian Pulisic.

It originated in NFL, and was first used by NFL star Allen Davis. Pulisic tried the dance after scoring in a Champions League match against Lille last season.

The celebration involves tapping your heels, before pulling your hands up to your eyes in an ‘OK’ motion. You then swing your arms back and forth. Check out Pulisic performing the celebration in FIFA 23 below:

‘The Eye of the Tiger’ – Christian Pulisic

If one Christian Pulisic celebration wasn’t enough for players, don’t worry. There are actually two celebrations made popular by the Chelsea frontman in FIFA 23.

The second one is titled ‘Eye of the Tiger’ – and no, it’s not related to the legendary song or darts player Raymond van Barneveld’s walk-on. Instead, Pulisic simply places his arm over his eyes, and stands menacingly. That’s about all there is to that one.

‘Low Five and Flex’ – Roberto Firmino

Also included as one of the new celebrations in FIFA 23 is Roberto Firmino’s ‘low five’ celebration.

The Brazilian completes a set of low fives with a team-mate, using both hands, before flexing to finish off the celebration.
