EXCLUSIVE: Frank Leboeuf had an exceptional time playing for Hollywood United with Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones.
In his remarkable career, the Frenchman won the World Cup with France and two FA Cups with Chelsea. However, his memories of Los Angeles are still some of his fondest from his time in football.
Frank Leboeuf reflects on his crazy time at Hollywood United
Since its inception in 1988, Hollywood United has attracted icons of film, music and the beautiful game, with many travelling to California to play football among the stars.
In 2006, Frank Leboeuf, who’d moved Stateside to pursue his acting aspirations, signed for the side, where he graced the pitch alongside Jason Statham and Vinnie Jones.
Now, he’s opened up about what his experience was really like.
In an exclusive interview with Sporf via Heart Bingo, Leboeuf reminisced: “That was the best time of my life. We were playing on Sunday mornings with no dressing room, and you shared your time with Anthony LaPaglia and Vinnie Jones, and so many fantastic actors and singers.
“The best time was after the game, when we went to drink a little beer and talk about memories of our former clubs. I enjoyed playing in the middle of the park; I wasn’t at the back, that was too boring, and I was a coach sometimes too. It was a friendly club with good people.
“Ian Carrington is the guy who made me come; he’s a Spurs fan — nobody is perfect. He introduced me to the guys, and it was at a time when I needed to go back to football because I was in LA and I didn’t know what to do. I was at the end of my career and doing courses for theatre, and that was the best way to get introduced to the crazy LA world.”
Frank Leboeuf has one major concern for Cristiano Ronaldo at 2026 World Cup
Twenty years on from first signing for Hollywood United, and Leboeuf is still just as in love with football as he was back then, with the former defender incredibly excited for the 2026 World Cup.
The 58-year-old believes Cristiano Ronaldo may finally scale the sporting mountain.
However, it might not be all smooth sailing for the Portuguese legend.
During his interview with Sporf, Leboeuf revealed his major concern for Ronaldo.
