Gary Neville makes hilarious Jamie Carragher comparison during Monday Night Football

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher are known for sharing some laughs on Monday Night Football – but the ex-Manchester United defender launched a hilarious dig at his punditry partner without even being on the show.

On Monday, Carragher was in the studio as Crystal Palace took on Leeds United at Selhurst Park. Former Leeds striker Robbie Keane joined him. Neville was absent from proceedings.

Leeds picked up a valuable point in the battle for Premier League survival in the game itself. They held out for a 0-0 draw, withstanding late pressure from Palace.

Jesse Marsch‘s side are now five points clear of 18th-placed Everton, with a much better goal difference.

Carragher watched on as another boyhood club’s rivals pulled further clear of the drop zone. Everton now face a significant battle to avoid relegation from the top flight for the first time since 1951.

As well as the game, however, all eyes were on the former Liverpool defender – and his hair colour (and trousers, it seems).

Gary Neville aims dig at Jamie Carragher over hair

Never one to shy away from some comedy, Gary Neville was not afraid to take note of Carragher’s new image and share it with the world.

He claimed his punditry partner had a ‘yellow rinse’, providing a full screenshot of Carragher as evidence.

But Neville then went one step further, comparing Carragher to the late former ‘Bullseye’ presenter Jim Bowen.

Some readers may better associate Bowen with his role as Frank Cartwright in the hugely popular sitcom ‘Phoenix Nights’.

Cartwright appears as a hotel owner in the first episode of season two. The show’s main character, Brian Potter, travels to his hotel to discuss business.

Upon seeing Bowen’s character – who is wearing a wig – he famously quips: “What happened to your head? You were bald last time I saw you!”

Carragher hasn’t yet responded to Neville’s dig – but we’re sure he has something ready.
