Grand National 2022: Start time, how to watch, entrant list, favourites

The 174th annual running of the Grand National takes place this weekend at Aintree, and we have everything you need to know about the event, including the start time and favourites.

The most lucrative event in British horse racing sees 40 horses and riders compete for a chance to create their piece of history.

Ran over 30 fences and two laps, the Aintree racecourse features larger fences than those usually seen on other courses.

In 2022, the race will be held under the eyes of a full capacity crowd for the first time since 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Last year’s event was held behind closed doors.

The reigning champion of the event is Minella Times, ridden by Rachael Blackmore. The Irish jockey made history by becoming the first female to win the Grand National. Blackmore will again take the reigns of last year’s winning horse this time around.
