Harry Kane already in fresh contract talks with Tottenham

Harry Kane is reportedly in fresh talks with Tottenham Hotspur over acquiring a new contract with the club.

Earlier this week the prayers of Spurs fans were answered when Harry Kane revealed that he’d be staying in North London beyond the end of the summer transfer window. The popular opinion always seemed to be that he was going to head up north to join reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, but instead, Tottenham have managed to keep hold of their man – for another season, at least.

Kane wants the big money

Pep Guardiola will now be focusing his attention elsewhere as he aims to bring in a new striker before the window shuts, whereas Kane seems to be using this development as an opportunity to get more money.

City weren’t willing to meet the asking price set by Spurs of £150 million but in order to reflect that valuation, he wants a wage increase – despite supposedly having one just last summer when he was bumped up to £300,000 per week with bonuses in a deal that was set to last until 2024.

Now, as per The Times, he wants to go one giant step higher with a contract that could be worth a whopping £400,000 per week as he gears up for another campaign in the capital.

The money being thrown around in the market these days means that many of us have become numb to some of the figures that get quoted, but in this instance, it’s hard to escape the extreme nature of the demands being put forward by the England captain.

Kane will hope to feature in the starting XI this Sunday when Tottenham play host to Watford.
