With the Formula E season nearly upon us, Jake Dennis can’t wait to go back to where his championship-winning campaign started — Mexico City.
On January 13, thousands of motorsports fans will descend on the capital for an event like no other. Blessed with an innate ability to roar louder than any other fanbase on the planet, the Mexican crowd are guaranteed to scream their hearts out as their favourite drivers zoom around the track. And Dennis is bursting with excitement to sit behind the wheel and take in the passion the spectators have for the sport he holds so close to his heart.
Jake Dennis is confident of success at the Formula E Mexico City E-Prix
In an exclusive interview with Sporf, he beamed: “I think the atmosphere brings the best out of everyone, it brings the best out of the championship, and I think having loud fans is always for the best, so starting the season in Mexico is always pretty special. I’m very excited to get out to Mexico to see them all and hear them cheer me while I’m driving during the race; it’s pretty special.”
Last season, Dennis produced a remarkable performance to win the Mexico City E-Prix. However, this year, going in as champion, the Brit will have a humongous target on his back, but rather than letting the pressure overwhelm him, he’s using it as the fuel to his fire ahead of what he expects to be another memorable campaign.
The 28-year-old declared: “I’m going to have a target on my back, but nevertheless, I’m confident, relatively relaxed about the situation, and I’m very excited to just get going. It’s been a long time since London. I want to get the championship going now, and see how competitive we are. It’s going to be an interesting first race, and I’m really excited for it.”
Jake Dennis and Norman Nato are ready to make an impact at the Formula E Mexico City E-Prix
While all drivers strive for individual success, competing for your team is still of optimum importance. Therefore, when Dennis represents Andretti, he always gives it 100%.
Renowned for his unrelenting will to win, which he showed in abundance during a tough middle portion of last year’s campaign, en route to a huge victory in Berlin, Dennis knows exactly what it takes to win. And with his good friend and teammate, Norman Nato, by his side, he’s confident that Team Andretti is a serious force to be reckoned with.
He concluded: “I’m sure there will be fighting spirit along the way. The relationship between me and Norman is strong. He joined Formula E when I did, and we’ve always gotten along well. Having him as my teammate is exciting. I’m hoping that he can bring something big to the team. The partnership is working well; we both want to win the Constructors Championship together. Hopefully, we can work together throughout the races.”
