Lamine Yamal has just achieved something truly special.
The gifted athlete hit the back of the net during the second leg of Barcelona’s Round of 16 Champions League clash with Newcastle United.
Lamine Yamal is the youngest player to score 10+ Champions League goals
Last week, Lamine Yamal scored an injury-time penalty to secure a dramatic draw for Barcelona. And tonight, he’s continued his momentum into the fixture at the Camp Nou.
Determined to make a point, the home side hit the ground running, with Raphinha striking the ball past Aaron Ramsdale after just six minutes. However, Newcastle quickly hit back, with Anthony Elanga bagging an equaliser.
Unfortunately for the Premier League side, the game didn’t remain level for long, with Marc Bernal pouncing on an opportunity to put his team back in the lead.
Refusing to lie down, Elanga pounced on a cross to restore Newcastle’s hopes.
With the clash hanging in the balance, Barcelona received a penalty right before halftime, which Yamal calmly converted.
As per TNT Sports, that moment made him the youngest ever player to score 10+ goals in the Champions League at the age of 18 years and 248 days.
Having developed a reputation for his immense dribbling skills, natural eye for goal and remarkable composure, the footballing world is very excited for what’s to come for the Spaniard.
Subsequently, ‘The Magpies’ fell apart, conceding four more times to ultimately lose the game 7-2 and thus, 8-3 on aggregate, to crash out of the competition.
Now, Barcelona will advance to the quarter-finals.
