If there’s one set of fans in the Premier League who are ready to get back to being in a full stadium, it’s Leeds United’s.
The Elland Road faithful had to sit back in the comfort of their own homes last season and watch their side compete in the top flight of English football for the first time in almost two decades. While Marcelo Bielsa may have been able to mastermind a top half finish, United supporters were still upset that they didn’t get the chance to see their team live and in living colour.
That shouldn’t come as much of a surprise either given the fact that they’ve long since been regarded as one of the most passionate fanbases in the country.
Marching on together
The boys in white are set to lock horns with Everton in the wake of their opening day embarrassment at the hands of Manchester United – a game that saw them fall to a nasty 5-1 defeat.
Still, even with that loss still fresh in their minds, this squad and this team are more than capable of avoiding the dreaded second season syndrome that caught up to Sheffield United.
One game isn’t going to be enough to define an entire campaign but if these reactions are anything to go by, Elland Road is going to be absolutely rocking by the time we reach the scheduled 3pm kick-off in Yorkshire on Saturday.
“Everyone hates Leeds” was a popular saying for many years when they were amongst the elite in England’s ranks, but in those opening few minutes tomorrow, it’ll be hard not to respect and appreciate just how committed their supporters have been for all these years.
