And with his lifelong dream in the bag, he’s looking to make as much money as possible.

As per Mundo Deportivo, the Argentinian’s father has flown to Riyadh to negotiate the staggering £245m-a-year contract.

After making a triumphant return to life at PSG, many expected the French club to extend their relationship with the forward. But in a curveball, Al-Hilal have emerged as the favourites to secure his services going into the 2023-24 season.

Nasser Al-Attiyah, a relative of the Emir of Qatar, has added fuel to the fire, claiming: “Messi, his next club after his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, will be Saudi Arabia.”

Having defined their era, the pair of bitter rivals will remain synonymous with each other for the rest of their lives. Thus, the idea of seeing them go toe-to-toe once more is enough to whet any fan’s appetite.

But should Messi take Al-Hilal up on their offer, he’ll make significantly more. Therefore, he’d have an even stronger claim to call himself ‘the greatest of all time’.
