Lukaku fires back at tweet criticising his first touch

Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku has rubbished a tweet that criticised his first touch.

The 28-year-old announced that he would be participating in a Twitter Q&A, and encouraged users to ask him questions in the comments section.

One user took the opportunity to try and mock the striker’s first touch during his time at Old Trafford.

Lukaku then hit back, saying: “I wouldn’t play at this level if I couldn’t control a ball the f***.”

Lukaku played for United for two seasons, although struggled for form towards the end of his second campaign before moving to Inter Milan in 2019.

He has been in top form for club and country this season, scoring 24 goals in 36 Serie A appearances to help Inter to the league title.

He has already struck three goals so far at Euro 2020.

Lukaku’s efforts helped Belgium to record the maximum nine points in Group B, and they will take on Portugal in the last 16.

He has been linked with a move away from Inter this summer, with both Chelsea and Manchester City said to be keeping tabs on his situation.

But when asked by former City and England midfielder Trevor Sinclair during the Q&A whether he would be willing to move to the blue half of Manchester, he replied that he is “happy” at Inter.

Lukaku will be looking to add to his Euros goal tally this week against Portugal, a game which will be played on June 27 in Seville.
