Manchester United supporters have called for Victor Lindelof to overtake club captain Harry Maguire in the Reds’ pecking order.
After throwing away a one-goal lead against Burnley, supporters highlighted the defender’s performances as an issue.
Adjudged to have been in an offside position when Raphael Varane headed home for the Reds, Maguire’s evening got off to a bad start.
Paul Pogba’s first-half goal gave Ralf Rangnick’s side a half-time advantage, but Maguire would continue to struggle.
Following the early error, Maguire was dragged out of position for the Burnley equaliser. Jay Rodriguez surged through the United defence to level.
It could have been even worse for the England defender had referee Mike Dean shown a red card instead of yellow for a foul on Rodriguez.
Rather fortunate to have escaped with just a yellow, Rodriguez had wrong-sided Maguire and looked to be through on goal.
Man United supporters react to Harry Maguire performance vs Burnley
Shortly after the match, users took to Twitter to voice their frustration, and United fans didn’t hold back in their assessment of Maguire.
One supporter questioned: “Maguire, what’s wrong with you, mate?”
Another one added they hope to see him leave the club in the summer window:
Similarly, another is hoping to see Maguire’s time at United come to an end sooner rather than later:
The Maguire issue is certainly a problem the incoming United boss will have to solve quickly, especially as he is contracted to the club until June 2025.
But with the Reds still involved in a Premier League top-four race, and a crucial Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid around the corner, Ragnick must find a solution for United’s defensive woes now.

Lindelof the solution to Maguire problem at United?
Although they will have to wait until the summer to offload Maguire, a popular resolution amongst United supporters now is to see Lindelof involved more.
Following the Burnley draw, one United supporter suggested the Swedish international should be brought in to partner Varane instead:
Another supported that suggestion, claiming the stats spoke for themselves:
Additionally, one fan added there are four United defenders who should be picked ahead of Maguire:
Whereas, another outraged United supporter offered an in-depth solution to the Maguire vs Lindelof debate:
Despite the widespread criticism of his performance, Maguire seemed satisfied with his outing against Burnley.
Afterwards, he appeared to blame United’s attackers for not killing the game off:
“We have to win the game and be more clinical,” claimed the English international.
He added: “Everyone knows in football the second goal is the crucial one”.
