Manchester United fans reach verdict after former player suffers ‘nightmare’ for Real Madrid

An ex-Manchester United player has had a disastrous performance for Real Madrid against Bayern Munich tonight.

While the defender would’ve hoped to produce something special in the first leg of his side’s Champions League quarter-final, things soon went south for the talented star.

Álvaro Carreras slated by Manchester United fans after poor Champions League showing

Prior to his time in Spain, Álvaro Carreras dazzled for the Manchester United under-23 team, becoming the side’s 2022 Player of the Year. However, before ever making a first-team appearance, he ended up going out on loan and eventually signed for Benfica.

Now, he’s making a name for himself at Real Madrid, where he’s impressed fans with his exceptional crossing skills and ability to effortlessly dribble past the opposition.

However, while he’s had many ups throughout his career, tonight was certainly not one of them, with Michael Olise getting the better of him throughout the entire evening.

Following Real Madrid’s 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich, United fans were quick to forget about the solid work the footballer has done throughout the rest of his time in the sport, and concluded that it’s a very positive thing that the 23-year-old never got his chance at Old Trafford.

One said: “This Carreras looks like a rare W for Manchester United’s transfer policy. Absolute toilet.”

A second claimed: “Now, I see why Manchester United, despite lacking a young left-back, let Carreras go and why Benfica never cared about him leaving.”

A third posted: “I hate to be the ‘I told you so’ guy, but I did tell you so. There’s a reason why Manchester United never put faith in him and why he kept getting loaned out to Preston and Granada like a journeyman.”
