Masvidal called out by unbeaten bare-knuckle boxer

Jorge Masvidal has been called out by former foe and undefeated bare-knuckle boxing champion Luis Palomino.

Masvidal is coming off the back of his first ever knockout loss at UFC 261, marking his second straight defeat to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

Now, with questions circulating about his future in mixed martial arts, ‘Gamebred’ may have a new avenue available to him in the world of bare-knuckle boxing.

Masvidal heading to bare-knuckle?

Palomino, who beat Masvidal via split decision when they fought in MMA back in 2010, was able to defeat Englishman Tyler Goodjohn this past weekend to take his BKFC record to 4-0 – retaining his BKFC title in the process.

After the fight, Palomino turned his attention to Masvidal and suggested they meet one more time inside the squared circle.

“One more thing, somebody came into my locker room to say what’s up to somebody else – that somebody is the bad motherf***er Jorge Masvidal. So check this out, right, if you want your rematch, remember I beat you eight pounds heavy, I know you’re under contract with UFC, I know.” He said.

“But, I’ve seen Dave Feldman [BKFC president] corner some people in a boxing match. So I’ll represent BKFC, you can represent the UFC, and I’ll give you that rematch in a boxing ring with the respect and with Dave Feldman’s permission.”

It seems unlikely that the UFC would even consider permitting something like this, especially when you think about just how quickly Masvidal has been able to increase his star power over the course of the last few years.

Still, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, and it’s great to see veterans like Luis Palomino putting their name out there in the hope of securing a big showdown.

Masvidal, on the other hand, continues to take time off in preparation for a return to the octagon.
