MJF set to be removed from Warner Bros Discovery adverts for AEW

As the current saga between MJF, AEW and Tony Khan rumbles on, it is now being reported that MJF is set to be removed from Warner Bros adverts for AEW programming.

The 26-year-old is currently at the centre of the company’s significant headlines.

There has reportedly been a dispute between MJF and Khan over his current contract, with the star being paid much less than other ex-WWE stars brought into the company.

This dispute has played out on-air over recent weeks. On the June 2 edition of Dynamite, MJF delivered one of the most memorable promos in recent history. He slammed Khan and other AEW wrestlers. He even demanded to be fired.

Most fans have started to believe that the on-air storyline is a worked shoot, potentially as an opportunity to capitalise on the current headlines surrounding MJF. From an AEW point of view, it would certainly make sense to blur the lines between reality and storyline to keep fans interested.

But the latest news has got fans puzzled.

MJF set to be removed from Warner Bros adverts

In the latest twist to the MJF saga, the 26-year-old will be removed from AEW commercials.

According to PWInsider (as per WrestlingNews), this is an edict from Warner Bros Discovery themselves. This means that MJF will no longer appear in promotional or commercial spots for AEW. They will use different footage instead.

It appears to be similar to the action WWE took when they suspended Sasha Banks last month. Banks featured in the introductory package for all WWE programming. She was removed following her suspension and replaced by Cody Rhodes.

MJF, in fact, has also been removed from AEW’s intros for both Dynamite and Rampage.

Why is the latest MJF update significant?

This latest update is potentially significant because AEW is broadcast on American TV stations TBS and TNT. Warner Bros Discovery owns both stations.

Speaking about the relationship between AEW and Warner Bros Discovery in May, Khan said: “To have top people at one of the greatest, now, post-merger, the largest creator of content in the world, and one of the greatest entertainment properties in the world, to want to host us and spend time with the wrestlers and staff of AEW, and get to know us better, that’s really, really cool because they’re incredibly busy.”

Warner Bros Discovery, therefore, have a lot of influence over AEW. That they are issuing an edict over MJF is undoubtedly intriguing. Whether it is simply adding to the storyline or indicating something more serious, is anyone’s guess at this stage.

But MJF did namedrop Warner Bros Discovery executives during his June 2 promo. They were in attendance at AEW on that night.
