Mo Salah scores 50th Champions League goal

Last week, Galatasaray produced a shock upset against Liverpool, defeating the Premier League giants 1-0 in the first leg of their Round of 16 Champions League collision with the Süper Lig leaders.

However, while Galatasaray arrived at Anfield in the driver’s seat, they certainly aren’t in it anymore, with ‘The Reds’ putting on a tremendous display on home territory.

After levelling the score by the end of the opening 45 minutes, Liverpool entered the second half dead set on going through the gears, which they have in abundance.

Within two minutes of each other, Hugo Ekitike and Ryan Gravenberch both hit the back of the net to give their team some breathing room.

Then, in the 62nd minute, Mo Salah gave the fans a magic moment to cheer about. After playing a one-two with Florian Wirtz, the Egyptian took a touch before unleashing a shot, Ally McCoist branded ‘unstoppable’, past Uğurcan Çakır and into the net.

It was Salah’s 50th goal in the Champions League. And it couldn’t have been any sweeter, especially with it helping Liverpool secure a place in the quarter-final of the competition. In addition, he’s the first African player to reach the milestone.
