Nate Diaz fires back at McGregor over ‘steroid’ complaints

Nate Diaz has fired back at rival Conor McGregor for implying he may have used steroids in the past.

The incident McGregor was referring to stems back to UFC 244 and the build-up to Diaz vs Jorge Masvidal. USADA, the UFC’s drug-testing organisation, flagged a sample provided by Diaz for a prohibited SARM (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator), known as LGD-4033.

Nate Diaz hits back

While Diaz was eventually cleared of any wrongdoing, suspicion soon arose that the positive test may have come from a product known as “Plant Man” – which was sold by Nate Diaz’s Game Up supplement company.

After McGregor’s remarks on social media, Nate decided to fire back with some queries of his own directed at the ‘McGregor FAST training program.’

The McGregor FAST program was first set up around 2016, the same year that saw McGregor and Diaz wage war twice at UFC 196 and UFC 202.

Diaz got the upper hand in the first contest, but McGregor showcased improved cardio in the second and beat Diaz via decision.

The expectation has always been that the two men will fight once again somewhere down the road. Alas, for the time being, that isn’t at the top of their priority list.

Diaz is scheduled to fight Leon Edwards at UFC 262 next month whereas McGregor will compete against Dustin Poirier in their own trilogy on July 10.

Yet even after all these years, McGregor vs Diaz III still feels as if it’ll come to fruition before one of them officially retires.

It’s the kind of money fight that only comes around every so often in mixed martial arts. Conor himself is a draw against anyone but when partnered up with Diaz, they have the potential to make magic together.

The UFC has been on a hot streak so far this year and anything involving McGregor and Diaz is bound to keep them on that trail.
