New report emerges on current WWE plans for Liv Morgan at SummerSlam

After two sensational victories at Money in the Bank, Liv Morgan is now the SmackDown Women’s Champion – and WWE are planning for her to have a big match at SummerSlam, according to reports.

On July 2, at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, one of the most popular women on the roster finally achieved her crowning moment.

The evening started with Morgan competing in one of the most dangerous matches in the business.

The match’s closing stages saw Raquel Rodriguez and Lacey Evans trading blows on the ladder. But Morgan climbed the ladder, launched over the top of both women and delivered a stunning Powerbomb on Evans.

Ultimately, this meant she’d have to climb those dreaded steps again, and this time, she wouldn’t let it slip. She positioned a ladder next to Becky Lynch, who, using all her experience, attempted to kick Morgan’s ladder over. But the popular Superstar propelled herself off the ropes and sent Lynch flying towards the canvas.

This left the 28-year-old with a clear route to the top. And to the delight of the crowd, she unhooked the briefcase and became ‘Ms. Money in the Bank’.

Consequently, she earned a shot at the world title at any point of her choosing within the following year. Morgan utilised it on the same night.

In the aftermath of her war of attrition with Natalya, Ronda Rousey had nothing left to give. And it showed against Morgan, who cashed in at the first available opportunity.

Despite being locked in the Ankle Lock by the veteran, Morgan managed to reverse the move. She promptly pinned the UFC legend to a massive pop from the audience.

With Morgan now champion, attention will turn to what is in store for her next.

Liv Morgan has a massive fight ahead at SummerSlam

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE plan to have the new title holder go toe-to-toe with Rousey again.

Meltzer said (quotes via WrestlingNews)he said: “Right now, the plan is Liv Morgan and Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam, which kind of surprises me in a lot of ways, especially because they didn’t leave with any heat. Ronda just hugged her, walked out of the ring, and let her have her moment. They’ve been building for this with Liv Morgan for a while.

“It is interesting, though. I think almost everybody figured it was going to be Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam, and it’s not.”

Of course, these plans, if true, can still change, so it will be interesting to see how things develop on SmackDown in the coming weeks.
