On a historic night for European combat sports, Oktagon MMA 40 will deliver the start of the Tipsport Gamechanger — an innovative tournament that looks guaranteed to provide fireworks.
The growing promotion has sourced talent from far and wide to compete in the event, with a grand total of 16 competitors from 15 different countries. But there’s far more on the line than mere bragging rights. If the fighters weren’t already motivated enough, there’s a whopping €1 million on the line.
On March 4, Oktagon MMA stars will collide with UFC, Bellator and PFL veterans in a tournament live from the Ostravar Arena in the Czech Republic.
The card will feature eight last-16 fixtures, with the winners advancing to the quarter-finals.
Oktagon 40 has a fantastic headline attraction
In a tremendous main event, David Kozma will look to bounce back from losing his title when he takes on Lukasz Siwiec. The ever-colourful ‘Pink Panther’ is convinced that he can dispatch his opponent in impressive fashion before winning the competition in its entirety.
The entertaining character has developed a massive following through his contagious charisma and stand-out performances in the cage. But after falling short against Kaik Brito, he certainly has a lot to prove.
Therefore, Polish power puncher, Siwiec, will look to take advantage of any mental fragilities by rendering his opponent unconscious in front a likely furious home crowd.
Oktagon 40 will showcase the best talent from around the world
While former interim Oktagon middleweight champion, Samuel Kristofic, was dismantling his opposition in the weight class above, he couldn’t resist the allure of a potential €1 million prize pot.
The Slovakian hero will compete in the co-main event against Bellator star Alex Lohore.
The French-born, UK-raised martial artist will look to build on his momentum from dismantling Matuss Juracek in his last outing and continue to prove the quality of world-renowned gym, Great Britain Top Team.
Furthermore, in a testament to his awe-inspiring fighting heart, Christian Jungwirth is ready to make a name for himself despite competing a mere three weeks ago. He’s taking on Spanish icon Tato Primera, who received mass support from his people, who campaigned for him to take part in the competition through the participant fan vote.
In addition, Danish submission artist, Louis Glismann, puts his skills to the test against Georgian prospect Amiran Gogoladze. Moreover, Brazilian Leandro Silva, the only non-European in the competition, will collide with Greece’s Andrea Michailidis.
Hungary’s Mate Kertesz will go toe-to-toe with Germany’s Marcel Grabinski. And in another tasty fight, UFC vet, Bojan Velickovic, will scrap with Moldova’s Ion Surdu.
And in the last match of the opening round, Slovakian knockout machine Radovan Úškrt will face off with LFL title-holder Melvin van Suijdam.
With so many high-level contests on the card, this is a night’s entertainment the fans can’t afford to miss. So we’ve got all the details on how you can watch the action.
Oktagon MMA 40: UK start time
In an intriguing twist, none of the fights in the €1 million Tipsport Gamechanger tournament can end in a draw. Therefore, if it’s all square after three rounds, the judges must decide who the overall winner of the bout is.
This exciting element will undoubtedly make the competition even more interesting than it already was.
Combat sports enthusiasts can tune into the bill from 5 PM onwards, with the main event scheduled for approximately 10 PM.
