Scottish Championship side Partick Thistle announced the signing of a new player yesterday – in rather unusual but genius fashion.
They confirmed the signing of Scott Tiffoney from Livingston, with the 22-year-old having scored seven goals in 11 appearances since arriving at Partick on loan in March.
The club’s fans were understandably delighted at the news, but even more so when they saw the announcement – which was done in two parts.
First, Partick tweeted their ‘mystery signing’ wearing a Lego mask, with Tiffoney then whipping it off to reveal his face.
That wasn’t the best part. What’s the first song you think of that could be associated with Tiffoney’s name?
That’s right. Partick then tweeted part of the music video from the hit Deep Blue Something song ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’, with the song title cut out in favour of Thistle boss Ian McCall shouting: “We’ve signed Scott Tiffoney, ya beauty!”
McCall then told the club’s YouTube channel he was “thrilled” with the signing.
This isn’t the first time that Partick have made the headlines in recent years. They are the club that unveiled the infamous Kingsley mascot in 2015, which gained plenty of attention.

After a difficult few seasons on the pitch, which saw Partick relegated from the Scottish Premiership and Championship in the space of two years, they are now back in the second tier after winning the Scottish League One title in the current campaign.
If they do make more signings this summer, let’s hope for some equally hilarious announcement videos as the one above.
