Rafa Benitez has brought smiles across social media with his brilliant interaction with an Everton fan.
Everton have entered a quagmire of late with the shock departure of Carlo Ancelotti back to Real Madrid and the addition of Benitez.
The Spaniard, who won the FA Cup and Champions League with Liverpool, is considered a fierce rival given his association with the Reds.
While some have argued his appointment makes pragmatic sense for a club whose current predicament is in need of a solid foundation, others feel that historic rivalries must not be swept aside for the sake of short-term gain.
However, whatever side of the fence you’re on, no one can deny that Benitez’s latest move online, a touching interaction with a supporter, proves Benitez to placed real importance on building relationships with fans.
Benitez to the rescue?
Benitez did not enjoy his short-lived spell in China, but it was as soon as 2019 that he was at the helm with Newcastle.
There, he earned the Magpies promotion from the Championship, before guiding them to a 10th-place finish.
Backroom drama with the club’s owners saw Benitez eventually depart St James’ Park, but he’s always made it his intention to build up a solid Premier League and win trophies.
He spoke about the Red-Blue Merseyside rivalry at a recent press conference.
He said via BBC Sport: “In this case, I will fight for Everton, I will try to do my best every single game, and I will try to compete against anyone.
“I know how the team finished last year, and we will try to be sure that we can do better.
“We can talk the talk, but I prefer to walk the walk and hopefully everyone will be happy, starting with me. If I am happy, the fans will be very happy too.”
