Chelsea winger, Raheem Sterling, will fly back to the Qatar World Cup just before England play France in a mouth-watering quarter-final.
The experienced international had to fly back home on Sunday after a break-in at his family home. Surrey Police confirmed that the occupants of the house returned to their property only to discover several items missing. Luckily, there were no threats of violence.
On the day of the incident, the police released the following statement: “On Saturday, December 3, the occupants returned to the address after arriving home from an international trip. They contacted police just before 9 PM to report a number of items of jewellery, including watches, had been stolen.
“Officers attended the address later that night and returned to speak to the occupants this morning. At this time, it remains unclear on which date the property was stolen and establishing this forms a key part of our investigation.
“Enquiries into the full circumstances remain ongoing, and officers will look at all available evidence, including any CCTV opportunities.”
Despite offering lots to the team, Sterling’s spokesperson claimed he’d chosen to “prioritise the wellbeing of his three children. Consequently, he missed England’s 3-0 demolition job against Senegal in the last 16. But after reassuring his family, he will rejoin Gareth Southgate’s squad on Friday, December 9, in Al Wakrah.
Due to the missed training time, we’re unsure whether Sterling will feature in the game against France. But with 81 caps under his belt, there’s no denying his experience could come in handy.
