Roberto Carlos responds to Luke Shaw’s epic Euro form

Luke Shaw has been one of the standout performers in Euro 2020 so far – and now he’s received praise from football legend Roberto Carlos.

The left-back has played a pivotal role in helping Gareth Southgate’s side reach the semi-finals of the competition.

And consequently, the Manchester United star has been given the nod of approval by someone who many believe to be one of the greatest wingbacks of all time.

After England ran out 4-0 winners against Ukraine on Saturday night, Shaw took to Instagram to show off his elation at progressing to the semifinals.

Carlos responded to the player’s post, providing numerous emoji claps as a way of admiration for the 25-year-old.

Shawberto Carlos

The story comes after many were comparing the Red Devils defender to the Brazil and Real Madrid legend.

Carlos played over 527 games for the Los Blancos and featured in 128 matches for his national side.

Gifted with a powerful left-foot and devastating speed, Carlos enjoyed a spellbinding career in which he won four La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues, and a World Cup.

Such was his immense talent, the 48-year-old is widely considered one of the best to have ever played.

Last season, Shaw

With Shaw’s current form, a nickname emerged for the England international. After enjoying what was arguably his best-ever season with Man United, he was dubbed ‘Shawberto Carlos.’

He told United’s official website about the new nickname: “I’ll be honest I’ve seen some things on it on social media and sometimes in my group chats my mates send me some stuff and I just laugh about it!

“I can’t be compared to him, he was unbelievable!

“I’m aware of it and it’s nice to be even mentioned alongside his name, but I just laugh about it!”
