Roberto De Zerbi has constructed a fascinating method to get the best out of the Tottenham Hotspur players during training.
The Italian certainly isn’t planning on letting his squad get away with a lack of effort.
Roberto De Zerbi charges the losing team in training
On March 31, 2026, Roberto De Zerbi arrived at Tottenham Hotspur with the task of keeping the London side in the Premier League.
In a moment that fans will remember for a long time to come, the manager guided his side to a victory against Everton on the final matchday of the season to secure survival.
Now, rather than merely keeping the team in England’s top flight, he’s hoping that in this campaign, he can help Tottenham have the sort of season that fans expect.
And in order to do that, he’s going above and beyond on the training ground to ensure the players perform to their optimum ability.
While over the years football enthusiasts have witnessed gaffers produce all sorts of weird and wacky methods to motivate their squads, De Zerbi’s is right up there with the most bizarre.
In a clip uploaded to X by SpursOTM, the former attacking midfielder asks for £10 off each star who’d lost in a game of six-a-side.
After counting the members of the defeated team, he exclaimed: “£60 for the coach.”
