Seattle Seahawks Star Breaks 60-Year-Old Record During Super Bowl Win

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29-13 to seal their second Super Bowl victory, and one of their players broke a Super Bowl record along the way.

Super Bowl 60 was not a classic.

But even with Mike McDonald’s men putting on a defensive clinic, they still managed to make history.

For a while, it looked as if field goals would decide the game.

The Seahawks progressed into a 12-0 lead via nothing but field goals. Not that their fans minded. Nor did Jason Myers.

Jason Myers Kicks Seattle Seahawks to Super Bowl Glory

The Seattle Seahawks kicker would hit five in total.

A new record for the Super Bowl, having never been achieved in 60 years of the Big Game.

Myers, 34, is a two-time Pro Bowler and the NFL scoring leader for 2022 and 2025. He has also made a bit of a habit of setting NFL records.

The former Jacksonville Jaguar, now in his second spell with the Seahawks, has added a few records to his name over the last few years.

In 2020, Myers had the highest field goal percentage in a season, from over 20 attempts (100.0).

Then this year, the Marist college alumni scored the most points in a single season without touchdowns (171) and the most points scored in a single season, including postseason (206).

Seattle would go onto add a couple of touchdowns for good measure, but they were barely needed.

Myers’ dead eye accuracy handed the Seahawks all the points they needed to secure their first Super Bowl title since 2013.

Myers also owns a few Seahawks specific records; Most field goals made (200). Most points scored (892). Most touchbacks (315). Most consecutive games with a field goal (26). Most consecutive field goals made (37). Longest field goal (61 yards).

None will give Myers more pleasure than his five field goal record at Super Bowl 60, though.
