Seattle Seahawks Win Super Bowl 60: All The Best Reactions

The Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl champions once again. A dominant defensive display by Mike McDonald’s team decimated the New England Patriots 29-13 during Super Bowl 60.

The championship is the Seahawks first one since 2013 and their second time holding the Vince Lombardi trophy in the franchise’s history.

Field goals were the order of the day at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco, with Seahawks kicker Jason Myers breaking a record by kicking five in a single Super Bowl. A feat which has never been achieved in the Big Game’s 60 year history.

Drake Maye Stifled as Seahawks Soar at Super Bowl 60

While the Patriots briefly flirted with a comeback in the fourth quarter, with Drake Maye finding Mack Hollins for a touchdown and then Rhamondre Stevenson, it was not to be for the franchise who were once all-conquering under Tom Brady’s arm and Bill Belichik’s leadership.

Instead, the Seahawks went some way to avenging their devastating Super Bowl 49 defeat to the Patriots, in 2015. Back then, as defending champions, the Seahawks dramatically lost the game on their final play. Opting to call a pass play on second down at the 1-yard line instead of rushing with Marshawn Lynch, Seattle saw Russell Wilson’s throw incredibly intercepted by Malcolm Butler, handing the Super Bowl to New England.

The play has been described as one of the worst in Super Bowl history. It baffled fans, players and pundits alike in 2015 and has done ever since.

However, 11 years later, and the Seattle Seahawks are once again Super Bowl champions. And convincingly so. Their defence suffocated the Patriots. Drake Maye struggled to make an impact until it was slightly too late to matter.

While much of the first three quarters were nothing to write home about, the last quarter saw some life kicked into the game. While not a classic by any stretch of the imagination, Sam Darnold and co. will never forget this February night in San Francisco.
