Sebastian Vettel net worth 2022: How rich is the F1 icon?

With his F1 career ending later in 2022, what sort of net worth has Sebastian Vettel accumulated during his time in the sport?

The Aston Martin driver recently announced that he would be leaving Formula 1 after 15 years of racing. Ever since his debut in 2007, Vettel has had a successful career.

For instance, during his first entire season at Toro Rosso, the German took his first ever Grand Prix win. Vettel won the 2008 Italian Grand Prix in unbelievably wet conditions with a wonderful, composed drive. He has since gone on to win 53 Grand Prix overall, putting him third in the all-time list.

However, Vettel’s years at Red Bull are what make the German a true legend of the sport. Whilst with Red Bull, he won four consecutive world titles, from 2010 to 2013. Fans may remember the dominance with which Vettel took the championships in 2011 and 2013 in particular.

Searching for a new challenge, the four-time champ moved to Ferrari for the 2015 season. Sadly, Vettel could not claim an elusive fifth world title, as Mercedes often proved too strong for the Scuderia. Despite this, he still added 14 wins to his overall total in his six-year stint with the Italian squad.

Sebastian Vettel currently drives for Aston Martin since they returned to F1 in 2021. This has been a tricky time in his career; Aston struggles to challenge consistently for points. Therefore, Vettel is lower than he is used to being during his career.

Unfortunately, it appears that Vettel will leave the sport in one of his lower championship rankings. His previous success means that he is an F1 legend, though, and has given Vettel quite the net worth.

Formula 1 earnings

Currently, Seb is on a salary of $15 million (£12.3 million) a year at Aston Martin. This actually puts him fourth on the driver salary list in 2022 but still quite far behind Verstappen’s $43 million a year.

His Aston Martin salary also pales in comparison to his Ferrari deal. According to Racing365, the German earned $40 million (£33 million) in salary and endorsements every year that he drove for the Italian outfit. In contrast, his annual earnings whilst at Red Bull were £13 million a season – still a high salary at the time.

As an overall total, Vettel’s two years at Aston Martin will net £24.6 million. Combined salary and endorsements from six years at Ferrari total £198 million. Finally, six years at Red Bull may have added up to £78 million. So, the German may have made nearly £300 million (before tax/costs) from F1 alone.

Vettel’s endorsements

Essentially Sports states that Vettel has numerous sponsors providing backing. These include watch maker Casio, Shell, and Pepe Jeans. Curiously, the German also apparently endorses Infiniti cars; this seems unlikely, though, as he drives for Aston Martin.

Overall, Forbes estimates the endorsements add an additional $300,000 (£247,000) to Vettel’s personal wealth every single year.

With all this building up, where does the net worth of Sebastian Vettel stand in 2022?

Sebastian Vettel’s net worth as of 2022

Celebrity Net Worth place Vettel’s personal wealth at $140 million. Unsurprisingly, the bulk of this has come via his contracts with two of F1’s wealthiest teams – Red Bull and Ferrari.

According to GQ, Vettel has used his wealth to accumulate multiple properties. He currently lives in a large farmhouse in Switzerland with his family, where he has his Red Bull RB6 car on display. That would certainly make an interesting conversation piece among guests.

Sebastian Vettel is truly a fan favourite of the paddock. When he reaches the chequered flag in Abu Dhabi later this year, many people will be sad to see him go.
