In a bid to give the Argentinian squad a boost of momentum for Copa America, Sergio Aguero welcomed the World Champions to Miami with a herd of goats.
With creativity and flair, the gesture not only serves as a show of support for his countrymen, but a reminder that the side that conquered the sport in 2022, is right up there with the greatest in football history.
With Argentina all set for a crunch collision with Canada, Aguero has well and truly laid down the gauntlet, with the message ‘The Goats Have Arrived’ sending shivers down the spines of the rest of the teams in the competition.
While no longer representing his national side due to medical issues, the Stake ambassador, who spent time with his new furry friends overlooking Biscayne Bay, has cemented his legacy for his country, scoring an astonishing 41 goals in 101 caps and winning the Copa America.
The side followed the triumph with a 36-game unbeaten run, en route to a monumental victory against France in the World Cup Final. And while he didn’t feature in that all-important game, the victory still holds a special place in his heart
With their fire still burning bright, the Argentinians are excited to make the defence of their crown, with Aguero confident in his nation’s chances.
Sergio Aguero expects Argentina to win the Copa America again
He told Stake: “Argentina is always a candidate… but pressure? I don’t think so. I think we’re used to this. Now, it’s about preserving the style and team-concept we’ve developed. We won what we’ve won because of this.
“The players that were part of that process should pass it on to the newcomers. It’s great that it happens naturally. The national squad is richer for all the new talent, and they’ll keep growing because of this.”
With Messi now plying his trade at Inter Miami, Aguero views ‘The Magic City’ as a home from home for the Argentinian players.
He explained: “There’s a big expat community in Miami of Argentineans, and many other Latin Americans who support our side.
“With Leo playing in the local Inter, that sentiment grows even more. But there are a lot of Mexicans, Colombians, Venezuelans too.
“We can say that Miami is likely the place with the most people rooting for different teams of Copa America at least.”
“I’ve played with the GOAT, and it was great to spend the day with some more of his kind! If Argentina can win Copa America, then they can cement their legacy as one of the greatest teams of all time.”
