Spurs have revealed the Nike home kit which they will wear throughout the upcoming 2023/24 campaign. While the shirt has some small adjustments, the shorts look very different.
Tottenham launched the new strip with an exclusive event at Alexandra Palace on Wednesday night, unveiling a campaign called “A Modern Classic”. The accompanying promo video, featuring Spurs stars from the men’s and women’s teams, saw the stunning, all-white number amidst a background of the same shade.
But what about the kit itself? Well, for 2023/24, Nike have ditched the yellow hues that highlighted last season’s strip. Instead, the new Tottenham home shirt looks more simplistic in design.
A crisp, white top has a plain, round-neck collar that is typical of the 2023 Nike template. However, the American marque have added a splash of colour to the sleeve cuffs via some navy trim. Because of the light base, Spurs’ club badge and the Nike tick all contrast beautifully on the jersey.
Meanwhile, the main sponsor AIA and sleeve sponsor Cinch stand out, too.
One of the more understated elements of the 2023/24 Spurs home kit is the textured base pattern. Tottenham says that these minimalist features take inspiration from the music of the Tottenham area of London. Additionally, they pay homage to the broadcasting past of the N17 postcode.
The big change is seen with the shorts, though.
2023/24 Spurs home kit: white shorts make a comeback
This new strip marks the first time Tottenham will wear all-white since the 2012/13 campaign. Back then, Under Armour produced the North London club’s kits. On the pitch, Gareth Bale lit up the Premier League as the club’s top scorer in his final season before joining Real Madrid.
Even before this, Spurs last used white shorts in 2007/08. They are uncommon, but not unheard of throughout the club’s history. Tottenham first wore all-white in 1961, then infrequently reverted to this look during the decades that followed.
In particular, the one-colour strips were often used in the FA Cup and European competitions. Ironic, given that Spurs have not qualified for Europe in 2023/24.
Nevertheless, the white shorts are back, along with a simple Nike logo and Spurs crest. White socks join the rest of the kit in this coordinated ensemble.
For the women’s team, though, the club will have navy shorts. This coincides with a move away from white shorts by female athletes across all sports. Tottenham have stated that these alternate shorts will not be available for fans to buy.
So, when will the new kit make its debut?
Tottenham to test new look in pre-season tour
Fans will get their first glimpse of the 2023/24 Spurs home kit during the Lilywhite’s pre-season tour down under. Tottenham take on West Ham in Perth on 18 July – marking the debut of their new jersey.
From there, new coach Ange Postecoglou will hope the revamped kit marks a reinvigorated club that can achieve some success next season.
