Thibaut Courtois makes ‘Astonishing save’ to stun commentary team during Real Madrid vs Manchester City

Thibaut Courtois produced a moment of goalkeeping genius to prevent Manchester City from hitting the back of the net.

While Real Madrid ran riot at the Bernabéu, scoring three goals inside 45 minutes, courtesy of Federico Valverde, it wasn’t just the Uruguayan who impressed for the Spanish giants, with the club’s shot-stopper rendering Ally McCoist stunned on commentary.

While the victory was more or less assured for Real Madrid going into the 74th minute, it’s still always nice to keep a clean sheet. However, that possibility was almost blown out of the water when Nico O’Reilly fired an effort towards goal from short range.

The net looked almost guaranteed to bulge, yet somehow it didn’t, thanks to the heroics of Thibaut Courtois, who managed to stick a leg out to prevent the Englishman from scoring what would’ve been an all-important goal going into the second leg of their Round of 16 Champions League clash.

McCoist, who was on commentary with Darren Fletcher, couldn’t quite believe it, shouting: “An absolutely astonishing save, he knows the only thing he can do is stick out a right leg. He can’t get that with his hand.”

Gianluigi Donnarumma slated by fans for ‘massive mistake’

While Courtois has walked away from tonight’s fixture with his head held high, the same can’t quite be said for Gianluigi Donnarumma.

There’s no doubt that the Italian is a classy operator between the sticks.

However, tonight certainly wasn’t his greatest performance.

In a disastrous moment, Donnarumma made a horrendous error.
