Tyson Fury accused of buying time by Deontay Wilder’s fiance Telli Swift

Deontay Wilder’s fiance Telli Swift has accused Tyson Fury of “buying time” after their trilogy fight was delayed.

Wilder and Fury had initially been scheduled to square off for a third time on July 24 after a court of arbitration ruled they needed to do so, shelving plans for Fury to fight Anthony Joshua. However, it was recently revealed that a COVID-19 outbreak in Fury’s camp would ensure the bout didn’t go ahead as initially planned.

Swift goes after Fury

The fight is still set to take place later this year but will now happen after Anthony Joshua returns to the squared circle to defend his gold against Oleksandr Usyk.

The aforementioned Swift recently spoke with TMZ Sports and gave her own account of what she thinks could be going on.

“You’ve trained so hard, blood, sweat, and tears. And then for someone to have Covid, and Deontay’s fight with torn biceps, broken fingers, burns on his arms, and he still fought,” Swift said.

“I just feel like with Covid and you have 16 days until the fight, he should still be able to fight and make it happen.

“I don’t think that he’s ready. I think he’s buying time, and I just feel like he feels Deontay is at the best looking-wise.”

“Deontay’s mind – he eats, sleeps, lives Tyson Fury. So, he’s ready for Tyson!”

Wilder will be out for revenge after he was humbled by “The Gypsy King” in their February 2020 rematch, whereas some have questioned whether or not Fury is already looking past “The Bronze Bomber” in anticipation of the elusive meeting with Anthony Joshua.

Either way we’re going to get some kind of resolution to this rivalry soon, with Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury 3 being set for October 9 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
