We’ve seen an array of impressive shirt releases ahead of the upcoming season, but Umbro may have just topped the lot with their spectacular capsule of vintage-inspired Brazilian shirts.
Featuring seven different sides sponsored by the brand, the collection has been designed to celebrate historic moments from each team throughout the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.
Athletico, Gremio, Santos, Sport Recife, Fluminense, Avai and Chapecoense have all been included in the collection which is well, it’s pretty special.
The Santos shirt pays homage to the 1963 kit, when the club were two-time Libertadores da America Cup and two-time World Champions. For Athletico, it’s 1997, when their partnership with Umbro kicked off.

Gremio, it’s 1981, the year the club won their first Brazilian Championship and for Sport Recife it’s ’55, in which they were Champion of Pernambuco.

Chapecoense’s strip heads back to 1977, the club’s first title victory and Avai are 1988 and the club’s Santa Catarina Championship.

Finally, Fluminense lauds 1985, a period which saw the club become Carioca three-time champions.

“Our proposal is to embrace everything that has been experienced by the teams, while including the completeness that the outfit has been encompassing in the brand. The result is extremely satisfactory and linked to the tradition of the clubs,” explained Umbro’s brand manager, Eduardo Dal Pogetto.

The whole collection is available to purchase on the Umbro Brazil website. Sadly, that’s going to mean some hefty postage fees for anyone on these shores looking to get their hands on one of the shirts.
