Varane reportedly tells Real Madrid he wishes to leave for Man United

Raphaël Varane has reportedly expressed his desire to leave Real Madrid his transfer window and try new pastures at Man United.

The Red Devils have already purchased Tom Heaton and an announcement confirming to long-awaited Jadon Sancho looks to be imminent.

With those deals wrapped up, attention is now on Varane, the dynamic French centre-back who’s mooted to be the man to bolster the Man United backline next to Harry Maguire next season.

The Real Madrid defender has been at the Bernabeu for over a decade and has won 18 major trophies in that period.

Rumours have been circulating about a posed move to Old Trafford, and now journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that the 28-year-old has informed his current club he wishes to make a move to the Premier League.

“Raphael Varane and his agents have confirmed to Real Madrid his desire to try a new experience in the Premier League,” the reporter said on Twitter.

“He’ll be respectful waiting – but he wants Manchester United. Varane has confirmed to United he’d be ‘ready’ to accept their contract.”

Tight-lipped Ole

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has so far remained cool under questioning about the latest incomings.

The former United player was asked last week about the signing of Sancho (of which was not officiated at that point) and also about the possible arrival of Varane.

At a press conference via the Metro, the Norwegian was asked a series of questions about the club’s transfer movement this window.

“Why were you keen to sign Sancho?” the reporter asked.

Solskjaer responded: “I will talk about players when we sign them, not while they’re at another club.”

Reporter: “How close are you to signing Varane?”

Solskjær: ‘[Laughs] Same again!’

The deal for Sancho appears to be done withstanding the social media announcement post – Varane very much appears to be through the doors next.
