Victor Osimhen just scored a magnificent goal in the second leg of Galatasaray’s Champions League play-off clash against Juventus.
However, despite the important nature of his goal, he chose not to celebrate, and the player himself might’ve given away why.
Victor Osimhen would love to play for Juventus
Going into tonight’s match, Galatasaray had a 5-2 advantage, but after conceding three goals in normal time at the Allianz Stadium, the Turkish giants’ place in the last 16 looked close to slipping away.
However, in the dying moments of the first half of extra time, Victor Osimhen beautifully slotted the ball into the back of the net. However, rather than going berserk like many others would’ve done after scoring such a vital goal, the talented player remained composed and chose not to celebrate.
And that’s possibly because Osimhen could see a future at the Serie A club.
During a pre-match press conference, he said: “Juventus is one of the most important clubs, rich in history with many legends. When they approached me before Galatasaray, I wanted to come, but there were some obstacles. The move didn’t happen, but if opportunities arise in the future, there are several clubs I’d like to play for. Playing there would be a privilege. But I’m happy at Galatasaray and love the club. I don’t know what the future holds. 90% of players in the world would want to play for Juventus.”
Unsurprisingly, fans picked up on what transpired, with many taking to social media to speculate on why the icon refused to jump for joy.
One posted: “Who else noticed that Osimhen didn’t celebrate against Juve? Is that a sign that he is moving back to Italy?” Another added: “Osimhen didn’t celebrate the goal he scored today. He really wants that transfer to Juventus.”
Regardless of whatever the reason was, Barış Alper Yılmaz beat the goalkeeper in the 115th minute to secure the Süper Lig leaders a spot in the next round.
