Ajax winger Antony has sent a message to his current club and fans as rumours linking him with a move to Man United continue to grow.
Since his arrival at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag has tried to bring in the players who he genuinely believes will make a difference. Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen both have made good additions to the squad. Meanwhile, an agreement in principle has also been reached for Real Madrid star Casemiro to sign for the club.
But while the Dutch manager hopes those players will make an impact, he knows exactly what Lisandro Martinez is capable of. The Argentinian won two Eredivisie titles under the 52-year-old’s tutelage. Therefore, the move made perfect sense. However, Ten Hag isn’t finished targeting his old Ajax players.
He’s had his eye on Antony since the start of the season. A move looks closer than ever to coming to fruition.
Throughout his time in the Netherlands, the winger has proved himself as one of the most exciting talents in the game. With blistering pace and a plethora of tricks in his repertoire, he’s slowly risen the ranks, and has even made international appearances for Brazil.
And now, to the excitement of United fans, a move doesn’t look too far away.
Is Antony heading to Man United?
On August 19, Ajax turned down a bid from the Premier League giant. However, the saga doesn’t appear to have ended just yet.
In an interview with De Telegraaf, Antony said: ‘What I can say is that I want to come to the right decision with my family, business partners and Ajax, which is good for everyone. In the end, God determines my future.”
When pressed on whether he could guarantee that he would remain at his current club, he gave an interesting response.
Antony answered: “‘No. To be perfectly honest, I can’t.
“Now I am focusing on playing football, and have put all other matters in the hands of my agents, and my brother. They will advise me on what is best.
“I am very happy at Ajax, I have a contract until the summer of 2025, and I will give everything for this beautiful club, for every second.
“I wear the shirt with pride. From day one, I feel at home.
“If we all decide that I will stay here, then I know that this is the best thing for me, and the club. It’s not like I have to leave.”
